Aviation Literacy. STEM Engagement. Mission-Ready Imagination.
Callsign: Waypoint™ is the original aviation-themed story and media universe created by Avyation Labs Publishing & MediaWorks™. At the center of that universe is Manny “Waypoint” Souza, a STEM wingman who helps young learners explore aviation, drones, technology, teamwork, and problem-solving through stories, activities, visuals, and real-world learning experiences.
Waypoint began with a simple idea: aviation and STEM can feel distant until students have a guide they can recognize, follow, and return to.
His name comes from navigation. A waypoint is not the final destination. It is a reference point along the route, a marker that helps you know where you are, where you have been, and where you might go next.
That is the role Waypoint plays.
He does not stand above the learner. He joins up beside them.
STEM Squadron™ is the engagement framework that brings that mission into the field.
Together, Callsign: Waypoint™ and STEM Squadron™ give Avyation Labs a clear creative lane: meet students where curiosity begins, then help guide them toward skills, literacy, and confidence.
From classroom to cockpit, every mission starts with a first point of contact.
Meet Waypoint
Waypoint is not the commander of the room.
He is the wingman.
He shows up in books, activity pages, booth displays, videos, classroom materials, and event experiences as a friendly guide through the world of aviation and STEM. His role is to make complex ideas feel reachable without watering them down.
Waypoint gives students a character they can recognize across different learning environments. A child might first meet him on a coloring page, then see him again at a simulator station, in a classroom activity, on a bookmark, or in an aviation-themed story.
That consistency matters.
Waypoint turns the learning environment into something familiar. He helps students understand that they are not just looking at random activities. They are moving through a larger mission.
Through Waypoint, students can encounter topics like:
Aviation operations
Drone safety and mission planning
Flight simulation
Airport careers
STEM problem-solving
Teamwork and communication
Advanced air mobility
Creative production and storytelling
Waypoint helps turn technical subjects into something students can see, touch, read, build, fly, discuss, and remember.
Why the Squadron Language?
STEM Squadron™ uses aviation-inspired mission language because students understand stories, teams, symbols, and roles.
A mission sounds more engaging than an assignment.
A briefing sounds more purposeful than a worksheet.
A patch feels more memorable than a participation sticker.
A callsign gives a learner a place in the story.
The structure borrows from aviation and squadron culture, but it is not about rank, command, or hierarchy. STEM Squadron™ is not a military program and does not ask students to imitate military service.
Instead, the framework uses familiar aviation cues to make learning feel active, organized, and shared.
Students are invited into a mission mindset: observe carefully, ask better questions, work as a team, try the next task, and keep moving along the flight path.
What Is STEM Squadron™?
STEM Squadron™ is Avyation Labs’ engagement framework for students, families, educators, partners, and anyone with a stake in building a stronger STEM culture.
It is not a club with ranks. It is not a rigid program with a single entry point. It is a flexible framework for helping people recognize that STEM is not just something that happens in a textbook.
It happens on ramps, in hangars, at airports, behind cameras, inside simulators, in drone operations, in maintenance shops, in design studios, around kitchen tables, inside classrooms, and in the questions students ask when something finally clicks.
For students, STEM Squadron™ creates a sense of participation and belonging.
For adults, it provides a shared language for supporting that participation, whether they are parents, teachers, mentors, airport partners, museum staff, aviation professionals, or community supporters.
STEM Squadron™ gives those moments a common identity.
It connects learners and supporters around exploration, aviation literacy, teamwork, and mission-focused curiosity.
Where Callsign: Waypoint™ Shows Up
Callsign: Waypoint™ supports the publishing, media, and storytelling side of Avyation Labs.
This includes:
Aviation-themed books and activity books
STEM literacy materials
Character-led educational media
Classroom visuals and print resources
Podcast and video concepts
Event graphics and booth displays
Story-based aviation engagement materials
Waypoint allows Avyation Labs to explain real concepts through a character students can recognize and return to across multiple touchpoints.
A booth visit, a bookmark, a coloring page, a storybook, a simulator station, and a classroom activity can all feel like part of the same larger flight path.
Where STEM Squadron™ Shows Up
STEM Squadron™ supports the field-facing engagement side of the mission.
You may see STEM Squadron™ connected to:
Public STEM events
Aviation education expos
Drone and flight simulation activities
Classroom enrichment programs
Student patches, stickers, and recognition items
Literacy Hangars and Operation: Readback
Partner events with schools, airports, museums, and aviation organizations
STEM Squadron™ gives students a way to identify with the experience beyond a single event.
It says: you participated, you explored, you engaged, and you are cleared to keep learning.
Built for Families, Schools, Airports, and Partners
Callsign: Waypoint™ and STEM Squadron™ were built to support aviation and STEM engagement in places where families and students already gather.
That includes schools, homeschool programs, museums, airport events, aviation expos, youth programs, and community STEM initiatives.
For partners, the value is simple: Avyation Labs brings aviation literacy, visual storytelling, educational structure, and a polished student-facing identity to the table.
For families, the value is just as important: students get to encounter aviation and STEM through an approachable, memorable, and age-appropriate experience.
No pressure. No gatekeeping. No “you should already know this.”
Just a first waypoint on the route.
A Classroom to Cockpit Ecosystem
Avyation Labs uses the phrase Classroom to Cockpit to describe the larger arc of its work.
Callsign: Waypoint™ and STEM Squadron™ occupy the early and middle portions of that arc. They help students build awareness, vocabulary, curiosity, confidence, and identity around aviation and STEM.
Some learners may eventually pursue flight training, drones, engineering, maintenance, media production, airport operations, robotics, or another technical field entirely.
Others may simply walk away with a better understanding of the aviation world around them.
Both outcomes matter.
STEM literacy is not a single destination. It is a flight path.
The Mission Continues
Callsign: Waypoint™ and STEM Squadron™ are part of Avyation Labs’ long-term effort to create aviation-themed educational media, public engagement experiences, and student-centered STEM resources.
We believe students deserve more than a lecture.
They deserve a mission.
They deserve tools.
They deserve a guide who can stand beside them at the edge of the unknown and say:
You are cleared for learning.
